Visiting the Black Horse Brewery

On Monday, Waitahuna School went to the Black Horse Brewery with Mrs Fox in the school bus.  When we first arrived Dusty (Mrs Murtagh) told us some interesting facts about the brewery and the Hart family.  Then we enjoyed our lunch sitting near the ruins of the brewery.  Mrs Fox gave us all an iceblock after lunch and then we set off to walk around the daffodils.  There were alot of different varieties and it was hard to compare them as they were all similar but different.  Afterwards we met back on the grass and took out our sketching paper.  We spent the next short while studying the lines and forms of the daffodils and trying to sketch them on our paper.
Then we packed up our art materials and lunch boxes and set back to Waitahuna on the bus.

We would like to thank Mrs Fox for taking us to the brewery and for the ice blocks.

It is always such a delight to have school groups visit the Brewery & Daffodils. Hearing childrens laughter ringing out as they wander around gives us hope for new generations of daffodil lovers. Thanks for your support
