Week 4 - A busy week of Athletics

A busy week for Waitahuna School with Small Schools Athletics on Tuesday and another fantastic athletic sports day at Lawrence Area School today. It is always great to see the comradery and healthy competition that the Lawrence and Waitahuna children have.
A huge thank you to the parents for again supporting the children, especially when many have also been working hard at the Farmarama catering.
The day finished with the relays where the Waitahuna team was made up of all the children who attended the sports. An excellent effort for a very ‘young’ team.

Our pea-pod experience

Today I ate green peas. They were in their pod. Michael

Peas are green so are pea pods. I like peas and pea pods. Elsie

Pea pods are green. Pea pods are easy to open. I undo my pea pods like a zipper. They are yummy and the pods are moon shaped. Briar

Pea pods are green and tasty. We open them like a zip. They are yum! Mine had six peas and the pod looked like a moon. Lachie W

Week 2 - done and dusted

Another busy week at Waitahuna School. The children have enjoyed taking part in swimming lessons, although a little bit more sun would help the water temperature.

The Junior Room have some new and exciting reading nooks in their class including a Gruffalo's cave and a newly painted 'Happy House'.  A huge thanks to Dylan's Mum Jenna for re-decorating it. They have also been finding out about how their brains work and have some interesting ideas about this.

The Senior Room have been creating some fantastic pieces of writing based on their holiday experiences.  Please feel free to drop into the class and enjoy their 'Summer' stories and 'I-phone selfie' memories.

The teachers have enjoyed reading the parent feed-back from the children's 'Friday Diary' and we hope you have enjoyed this weeks installations.

Our first post of the Year

The children arrived keen and eager this morning ready to catch-up with their friends and learn!
Both classes have had a busy programme and we were fortunate enough to fit in two sessions of swimming lessons.
A reminder to put sun hats in the children's school bags.
