Junior Swimming Carnival

The 2016 Junior Swimming Carnival was held at the Tuapeka Aquatic Centre. The afternoon always holds its challenges with heat, noise and children excitedly waiting for their races. Thank you to the spectators who gave the competitors their full attention as it helps makes the carnival run a little more smoothly. Well done to the pupils who tried their best to show the skills they have learnt.
What a wonderful pool.
We loved seeing Cody for a wee visit as well.

First Edition of our School newspaper - Writing for meaning

We enjoy keeping in touch with our family and friends of Waitahuna School through our Blog and Facebook Page. To begin the year in our writing programme we decided to create a more traditional way of sharing our stories with you all. Therefore some of you may have received a copy of our 'Summer News' newspaper in your mail box recently. All of the stories have been written by the pupils and the big job of editing the newspaper was taken on by Madaline who is 9. If you have been lucky enough to receive a copy we hope you have enjoyed sitting relaxing with a coffee or cup of tea and enjoying our newspaper. (Some of you may have to wait a while for the snail to deliver)

Swimming Progress 2016

Dear Parents , we thought you might like to see the progress your children are making during our swimming lessons. Since February 1st the children have been swimming each day and quite often twice a day. Ms Johnstone and Mrs Blackmore have been taking this daily coaching and this week Sharon is also coming to share her skills. We are sure you will be as impressed as we are with the progress the children have made. (Please note some children were not swimming today therefore don't feature on the video). Also if you look at the children out of the pool you will see Guided Reading and story-writing taking place.
